Global feed industry gathered in Antalya

Global feed and food industry leaders gathering at GFFC5 2016 - 5th Global Feed & Food Congress, organized in Antalya discussed the critical issues facing the agri-food chain. h_77_1 Global feed and food industry leaders discussed critical issues facing the agri-food chain at the 5th Global Feed & Food Congress (GFFC), organized by the International Feed Industry Federation (IFIF) in cooperation with the European Feed Manufacturers' Federation (FEFAC) and hosted by the Turkish Feed Manufacturers' Association (TÜRKİYEM-BİR), with technical support provided by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). Nearly 1000 delegates from universities, public institutions, private sector related with feed and food sector from 45 countries attended to the Congress with the theme ‘Equity and Prosperity for All - The Future' between 18 and 20 April 2016. ISSUES TO CONSIDER IN FEED AND FOOD SECTOR The Congress started with the opening speeches of M. Ülkü Karakuş, President of TÜRKİYEM-BİR, Joel Newman, President of IFIF, Ruud Tijssens, President of Ruud Tijssens, Yuriko Shoji, FAO Representative, Mehmet Daniş, Vice President of Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock. Speaking at the opening, President of TÜRKİYEM-BİR M. Ülkü Karakuş focused on meeting the increased food demand, environmental issues, sustainability in animal production, supplying food with affordable prices to all parts of the society and providing fair income for producers. Stating that feed and food sectors should be discussing these issues, Karakuş added that family-owned businesses in rural areas are about to disappear due to industrialism and urbanization; and family-owned businesses should be supported in feed and food production for overcoming this transition. Saying that feed production has been increasing 10% on average annually, Karakuş stated that 20 million ton mixed feed production is expected to reach 30 million tons in 5 or 6 years and there is a higher potential in Turkey to produce much more. Hel also called on the representatives of other countries to share this dynamism and development. ISSUES DISCUSSED DURING THE CONGRESS Addressing the GFFC theme ‘Equity and Prosperity for All - The Future', the high level panel brought together Knut Nesse, CEO of Nutreco, Hubert de Roquefeuil, Chairman of InVivo NSA, Dr. Marcos Jank, Vice President Corporate Affairs and Business Development at BRF and Durmuş Yılmaz, former Governor of the Central Bank of Turkey. Speaking in front of 900 international delegates, the panelists discussed the current state of the feed and food industries, as well as the most important challenges that lie ahead to deliver on the 5th GFFC theme ‘Equity and Prosperity for All’. The panel discussion with delegates touched on critical issues facing the agri-food chain, including sustainability, how to drive and finance innovation, the importance of a balanced regulatory framework, technology transfer and capacity development as well as free and fair trade. There was a call for better communication to a wider audience and agreement that working together is key to meet future challenges. Prior to the global leaders panel, over 70 world-class speakers, including CEOs, leaders, and experts from global feed and food companies, international organizations and the scientific community, provided their insights and expertise at the 5th GFFC sessions and workshops that covered the whole feed manufacturing and food processing value chain, with a special focus on Sustainability, Markets & Trade, Global Regulations & Trade Facilitation, Biosecurity along the Feed & Food Chain, Animal Nutrition, Innovation and R&D. Great interest for Feed Planet Parantez Group was at GFFC 2016 Congress with Miller Magazine, Feed Planet Magazine and IDMA Exhibition. Parantez Group, the organizer of IDMA Exhibition which is the most important technology fair of flour and feed milling industry, both promoted IDMA 2017 Fair and introduced the very first issue of Feed Planet to the feed industry. Sharing the latest issues of Miller Magazine, BBM Magazine and Feed Planet with the exhibitors during the Congress, Parantez had great interest with its new magazine Feed Planet. Continuing the preparations for 7th IDMA Fair to be held in 2017 as well as its publications, Parantez had significant meetings with feed industry representatives during the Congress.
