German company Bayer has opened a modern factory for production of seeds of agricultural crops in Zhytomyr region, north-western Ukraine.”The Bayer company has opened a new modern factory for the production of seeds of agricultural crops in Zhytomyr region. The company has created 85 permanent and 220 seasonal jobs for Ukrainians,” President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko posted on his Facebook page.According to the President, USD 200 million in investments were raised for construction of the factory. The Head of State also added that the Bayer company helped to solve social issues of the local community by supporting a school and a library and financing construction of a new road and an outpatient department. Bayer is an international company specializing in life sciences, namely, health and agriculture. The company has been operating in Ukraine since 1992 as Bayer LLC and is a major supplier of seeds, pesticides, herbicides and fungicides in Ukraine. It aquired American agricultural giant Monsanto in May 2018.
