Bratney, Omas, and Cimbria unveil cutting-edge flour mill in Utah

Bratney has officially broken ground on the Utah Flour Milling, LLC Project in Richmond, Utah. This new green field mill is a joint venture between PHM Brand’s Panhandle Milling and key partners to develop a state-of-the-art flour mill located directly adjacent to a regional ready-to-eat snack food bakery facility, and will produce on-demand flour for the production of several popular snack foods for a major national brand.

The project came to fruition for Bratney through its existing relationship with PHM Brands. “With Bratney leading the equipment supply, engineering and construction of this strategic project, the facility will be the most modern, efficient, and technologically advanced flour milling facility in the region,” commented Peter Bisaccia, President of PHM Brands.

As the design-build general contractor, Bratney is responsible for the complete design and construction of the mill. Bratney will also be providing all the key processing and milling equipment, including Cimbria cleaning equipment and Omas milling equipment. The operation is set to complete in the fourth quarter of 2024. “This flour mill is a very exciting project for us at Bratney, as it allows us to bring equipment from our partners at Omas and Cimbria together with our in-house engineering and construction services and deliver a turn-key state-of-the-art milling facility to our long-term customers and friends at PHM,” commented Peter Bratney, President, and CEO of Bratney.

The Utah flour mill will be Omas’ largest mill to date in North America. This represents a major milestone in the partnership between Omas, S.R.L. and Bratney. The two companies began working together in 2016. Omas will be contributing heavily to the milling system design and participating in the startup and calibration of the milling system. "I am very proud to serve the PHM flour milling group, along with our American partner Bratney," commented Luigi Nalon, CEO of Omas Industries. "I strongly believe the project—a result of significant technical and business commitment—will once again allow us to demonstrate the high technological value of our machinery. Our customers will benefit from this for the next 30 years."

Cimbria’s inclusion in the new Utah flour mill aligns with the 30-year anniversary of the partnership and collaboration between Cimbria and Bratney. Cimbria (part of the AGCO Corporation) will play an integral role in the project by providing its industry-leading wheat cleaning equipment and color sorting technology for the mill. The mill facility will also include high-capacity storage bins from GSI—another company under the AGCO umbrella. Through its exclusive distribution partnership with Bratney, Cimbria has been supplying essential cleaning and separation equipment to companies in the milling, seed, grain, and food industries throughout the United States and Argentina for 30 years.
