“Alapala has been in the forefront for the manufacture of plant and machinery for the grain milling industry for over 60 years and a regular supporter and exhibitor at IDMA. We were very pleased by the interest shown by a large number of visitors, who had the chance to take a look at our advanced, highly innovative technological solutions. The significant turnout of international visitors to our stand was of particular importance. There was a proper and positive balance between the exhibitors and visitors.” rop68 We continue our conversations with the leading exhibitors of the exhibition after IDMA 2015. This month’s guest is Görkem Alapala, Vice Chairman of Alapala Machine Industry & Trade Inc. which is one of the leaders in milling technologies. Having the most interesting booths of IDMA 2015 Exhibition, Alapala had one of the companies drawing great attention of visitors during the four-day exhibition. Thousands of visitors from around the world had chance to examine the latest technologies and innovations of the company in Alapala’s comfortable and high equipped booth . Stating that they were very pleased by the interest shown during the exhibition, Görkem Alapala, Vice Chairman of Alapala Machine gives us information about their R&D studies, new plant investments and targets in our conversation about IDMA and Alapala Machine; and he gives a message that they will present to visitors their latest technologies at the next IDMA. We take the details from Görkem Alapala. Mr. Alapala, first of all, could you share your ideas about IDMA 2015 with us? What do you think about IDMA 2015 in terms of both exhibitors and visitors? Alapala has been in the forefront for the manufacture of plant and machinery for the grain milling industry for over 60 years and a regular supporter and exhibitor of IDMA. We were very pleased by the interest shown by a large number of visitors, who had the chance to take a look at our advanced, highly innovative technological solutions. The significant turnout of international visitors to our stand was of particular importance. There was a proper and positive balance between the exhibitors and visitors. In short, to build new relationships, to strengthen existing ones as well as the chance to discuss and learn more about new products in our industry, the latest technology and anticipating future trends and innovations… These were the benefits of the exhibition. You exhibited with a quite special booth at IDMA 2015. Could you tell us about your booth design, concept and the message that you would like to give with this booth? The concept of our stand was to give our visitors an open space to freely move within our stand to see our machines that we exhibited. We incorporated a large area for our visitors to comfortably have a rest and to have refreshments while discussing with our professional team. The main message we wanted to portray was openness and confidence to our visitors, very much in line with how we work with our clients. You organized various events at your booth during the exhibition. Could you tell us about that? For instance; the harp performance… Yes... Harp music has an effect of soothing and relaxation; we wanted to create this aura for our visitors away from hectic exhibition environment. We wanted them to enjoy our stand and its offerings. Also we have invited our guests for a special dinner, which also had music entertainment. Could you give us some information about the technologies and innovations you exhibited during the exhibition? What technology of you had interest from visitors mainly? I think all the visitors were looking forward to visiting our stand to see what we have developed and offered to the market. Being on the forefront of technology in our field, we are continuously developing new technologies and systems. It will take a long time for me to go into the innovations and intricacies of the machines that we displayed but let me assure you that all the machines displayed have innovations and features which were not there previously. We also had completely new machines. Could you give us some information about Alapala’s R&D studies, after sale service, its budget and studies about training? As I have mentioned earlier, Alapala is on the forefront of technology in our sector. We are continuously developing our technology to remain in the forefront. This can only be achieved by having a thorough knowledge of current market demands, globally and to translate them into the expectations of our plant and machinery, a good and effective R&D department. We have an adequate R&D budget above our industry standard. We are further investing in a new state of the art manufacturing plant.  After sales and training are a vital part of Alapala day in and day out and we are continuously improving them. What areas do you focus on in R&D studies about your technologies or what are your focal points in your new technologies? We continuously invest in R&D as it is our backbone. This involves not only developing new technologies and machine improvements but also the manufacturing process, qualified and experienced personnel. The next IDMA Exhibition is in 2018. Are we going to see new technologies at Alapala’s booth in 2018? Do you have any claim like this? Certainly you will see new technologies particularly in our machines. Every day is a challenge for us to remain in the forefront and to develop new technologies to benefit our clients and the industry on the whole. Could you give us some information about your share in global milling industry and your structuring in the world? We are currently in over 90 countries of the world and are rated as one of the top companies in the world in our sector. Our intention is to be present in more countries with the same Alapala quality and service or even better as time goes by. Finally, can we learn about Alapala’s targets and plans for the upcoming period? Targets in terms of both market and technology development… Part of this question is already answered in your previous question. But specifically, we want to be present in 150 countries of the world by 2019. This is ambitious but I feel with my team this is achievable. As I mentioned before, we are currently building our newest manufacturing facility and R&D Centre. Once it is completed, we will have better sources for productivity and development.
