In this aspect, our company launched its new product NOVITIOUS roller mill in IDMA 2015. Our new roller mill Novitious was developed by our engineers in our R&D department to solve a common problem of millers which wasn’t solved for years. In our new roller mill Novitious which is protected under the patent application, we used DASP system (Dynamic Angular Positioning) which is a very innovative system.”
Today, companies should diversify and innovate their products, services and production methods constantly in order to survive in changing competition environment. This changing process is named as “innovation”. Innovation involves all the processes carried out for developing a new or improved product, service or production method and also turned them into commercial income.
New and improved products or production methods which have not been tried before (radical innovation) can be created as a result of innovation or radical ideas. Also an innovation (incremental innovation) comes out of various developments and improvement studies which are realized step by step.
Research and development (R&D) is one of the most essential activities for innovation. However without entrepreneurial innovation or if those who realize R&D are not entrepreneurial, it is impossible to create value; the results of R&D cannot be turn into innovation. Therefore, although any change contains a long and tiring R&D study it may not be called as innovation if the company cannot turn it into commercial income. Moreover, not every change is called as innovation. So the most significant motto of our company is “true innovation”
Innovation does not mean “invention”. Results of inventions can be beneficial but what important is to create something commercial which has not been tried or known yet. Therefore ideas and concepts are significant too. Considering the developing technology, changing customer demands, capabilities of competitors who easily reach and imitate the information and technology, it is easily estimated that the competence advantage obtained with only an innovation may not last long. Thus it is essential to make innovation continuously.
VARIETIES OF INNOVATION
Innovation is not an activity that a company keeps separate from the other activities. On the contrary, it covers all the activities in a company and it needs an integral view.
Technologic innovation: The product means both a physical product and service here. Realizing significant technologic changes in available products and processes as well as developing a new technologic product or process can be considered in this category.
Organizational innovation: It means strengthening the competitive capacity of a company by developing new working and operating methods or using them by adapting to the company.
Marketing innovation: It means strengthening the competitive capacity of a company by developing new designs and marketing methods or using them by adapting to the company.
WHY IS INNOVATION SIGNIFICANT AND WHAT ARE THE GAININGS OF IT?
Today, innovation is the basic issue that makes the companies survive and grow healthily. The elements which force the companies to be innovative can be listed as follows:
1. Developing technology made the distances insignificant.
2. Globalization created new markets and new production centers.
3. Changing lifestyles and expectations created a social transformation.
4. Reaching the information became easier; use of information became liberated.
Innovation used to be seen as an invention of a genius or commercial success of a clever person. It depended on a brilliant person, coincidences and also luck. We know that it is not so any more. A TRUE INNOVATIVE PRODUCT: “NOVITIOUS”
Both local and foreign machinery producers in our industry have exhibited their latest technologies in international and local exhibition and congresses. Among the newly developed technologies, there are some products which were created with serious R&D studies, patented and kept under protection. Also there are local or foreign companies which exhibit the familiar applications under name of innovation; which claimed to make innovation by changing the design or the color.
We have seen that milling machinery importers participate in the exhibitions with many new products. Especially we have seen that industry leaders have spent a lot of energy to make difference and become prominent among their competent. In this aspect, our company launched its new product NOVITIOUS roller mill with an organization at the booth attended by leading people in the industry in IDMA 2015.
In our new roller mill Novitious, we used DASP system (Dynamic Angular Positioning) which we started with the idea of solving the common problem of millers which wasn’t solved for years; which was developed by our engineers in our R&D department and tried after being tested for 5 years; for which we applied for patent. Novitious does not only stand for its design but as a solution to one of the biggest problems of the millers.
ADVANTAGES OF ANGULAR POSITIONING SYSTEM (DAPS)
Dynamic Angle Positioning System (DASP) solved a significant problem in fine-toothed roller passages. Summarizing the advantages of DASP system, namely Dynamic Angle Positioning System in Rolls:
1. Crown rolls are used no more
Grinding cylinders with flat grinding and without crowns turn into concave shape as a result of thermal expansion and diameter growth formed by bedding structure in cylinder head. It is possible to enable cylinders to work straight by positioning them in equal distance to each other through the two grinding line and angled to each other.
2. Cylinder honing in simple rolls
There is no need for conical or crown cambered rolls to absorb the thermal expansion on cylinder heads. Flat grounded cylinders can be used in simple rolls with no feature.
3. Equal distance through the grinding line and always adjustable
It is possible to adjust the distance and keep under control at any moment with DAPS system. It is also possible to adjust the equal distances of cylinders through the grinding line by angling the cylinders with an improved apparatus. The distances of cylinders to each other can be kept under control through the grinding line by making sieve analysis of the samples which were taken during the beginning and in the middle.
4. Equal distance through the grinding line in fine-toothed cylinders
Toothing is not possible in cambered grounded cylinder. Fine-toothed cylinders are angled with DAPS and can stay in equal distance to each other through the grinding line. Therefore, grinding process is more effective and homogenious in fine-toothed cylinders and it is also possible to use log and fine toothed cylinders.
5. Energy saving
In current applications, Cylinders are grounded as to the crown value which is determined before and they are mounted to the machines. It is required to apply pressure more to avoid missing products in cylinders which cannot press straight due to various bearing temperatures in different passages. This causes the products which are passing through the places where the gap is wide through the grinding line to be fined more than required and also it causes the related passage to receive more ampere. Moreover, the products which are fined unnecessarily become flexible and require more equipment (semolina fan, detacher, etc.)
Imbalanced fining is prevented in DAPS system by keeping the cylinders in equal distance through he grinding line. During the experimental works, we have observed that liso passages can be operated with 15-40 percent less ampere and less supportive equipment is required.
6. It does not need to be adjusted very often
Angled cylinders are operated with no load for a time as in current applications; and then grinding process starts when the cylinders reach to their regular temperature. The cylinders can operate for months if angling settings are not interfered. The samples are taken from at least three points of grinding passage (beginning and center) in specific times (especially when ampere increased, the quantity and sort of the product change); sieve analysis is made and the grinding passage can be kept under control.
