At the IAOM Eurasia Conference & Expo 2025 in Istanbul, Dmitri Rylko, Director of IKAR, presented a cautious outlook for global wheat markets. While Russia is set to harvest one of its largest grain crops in recent years, weak global demand and costly logistics are limiting export momentum.

SovEcon has raised its 2025 Russian wheat crop forecast by 1.9 million tonnes to 85.2 million tonnes, driven by larger planted areas and improving yields in the Central and Southern regions.

SovEcon, a leading Black Sea grain consultancy, has raised its 2025 Russian wheat production forecast to 83.6 million metric tons (MMT), up from 83.0 MMT in June. The latest revision is once again driven by improved crop conditions in the Central region, where the wheat crop is now estimated at 19.8 MMT, up from 18.5 MMT.
