“As a matter of fact; Turkey has global expertise in flour, pasta, pulses and biscuit production areas; however we remain behind in terms of earnings. We will also remain behind as long as we do not create added value for our product. In this aspect, IDMA Exhibition provides the best platform to the industry.”

Flour and machinery industry, which I highlighted in the headline too, becomes prominent with our country’s competitive effects in global competitive market. Turkish flour industry which is the global leader ranks second as machinery sector with a share of 9.2 percent in Turkish exports… Indeed, two sectors support each other; one’s success allows the other’s progress.

Although Turkish flour industry ranks second around the world from time to time instead of ranking first, which took place for the first time in 2005, it is certainly the global leader nowadays. Turkey shared 20 percent of global flour trade with an export amount of nearly 3 million tons in 2015. In other words, Turkey is the flour exporter of the world.

That is not easy; it is an absolutely difficult result to get. It is a huge success for an industry with idle capacity of 50 percent to manage this. As I mentioned before, there is the dynamic structure of the industry behind this success.

Any industry making production for a single market and meeting the requirements of this market can survive in competitive global market. Following the innovations, taking the pulse of the market, updating the production systems and diversifying them by analyzing consumer trends properly leads Turkish flour industry which is aware of this fact to this point.

It is highly important to follow the technology to meet the demands of the market as a result of analysis because technology is one of the most effective methods to create added value.

As a matter of fact; Turkey has global expertise in flour, pasta, pulses and biscuit production areas. However we remain behind in terms of earnings. We will remain behind as long as we do not create added value for our product.

In this aspect, IDMA Exhibition provides the best platform to the industry. In other words, IDMA - International Flour, Semolina, Rice, Corn, Bulghur, Feed Milling Machinery & Pulse, Pasta, Biscuit Technologies Exhibition gathers two sectors growing with each other’s success. That’s why I would like to thank Parantez Fair for providing such a platform to the Turkish industry and economy.

I congratulate them for managing to increase both the number of exhibitors and visitors in 2015 despite the global economic downturn because this success is silver lining for the future of the country’s economy.

Thanks to Parantez Fair for not shadowing our silver lining. I wish you would achieve much more in 2017 Exhibition.
