I sincerely congratulate all sector stakeholders who contributed to this success,” Minister Yumaklı stated on Twitter. He further provided an analysis of the yield estimates for the 2024/25 season, stating, “Our wheat yield forecast stands at 21 million tons. NO EXTENSION FOR WHEAT IMPORT BAN

On 06 June 2024, the government of Turkey introduced a ban on wheat import for the period from 21 June 2024 to 15 October 2024. The measure is taken to protect local farmers during the harvesting period. Turkish flour industrialists expect the import ban to be lifted before October 15. However, Ahmet Güldal, General Manager of the Turkish Grain Board, stated that they will not extend the ban. Güldal said, “We know that there have been some rumors in the sector in recent days that this date will be brought forward. The import ban will definitely not be extended before the end of the harvest period, before the products of our producers are subject to trade.”
