TFIF, Ulusoy: “We expect a record at flour export”

Eren Günhan Ulusoy, the president of Turkish Flour Industrialists’ Federation said flour exports has shown an increase of 3% for the first 8 months of the year comparing to the same period of 2016. Ulusoy declare that they are expecting a record by the end of the year.

tusafEren Günhan Ulusoy, the president of Turkish Flour Industrialists’ Federation (TFIF) and CEO of Ulusoy Un stated that flour exports has shown an increase of 3% for the first 8 months of the year comparing to the same period of 2016 and reached to 2 million 302 thousand. Pointing that 3 per cent increase may not be deemed as much, Eren Günhan Ulusoy said, “He have attained an increase of 28% last year. In 2017, we are trying to preserve the increase that we have achieved last year.” “Our year-end target is to import 3 million 675 thousand tons of flour with an increase of 5%,” said Ulusoy, who were speaking assertively of year-end numbers. Ulusoy uttered that the number of the countries that Turkey is importing flour increased to 160 within a period of 10 years and 92% of the world population is living in these countries in the assessments he made to Anadolu Agency correspondent. “Turkish flour reaches to the regions where 9 out of every 10 persons live,” he said.

AFRICA IS ON TARGET Indicating that particularly the continent of Africa has gradually increased its share at the distribution of exports, Ulusoy emphasized that Africa’s statistics raised to 35% which was 29% last year. He said especially Angola market was the important target market for flour industry and they had achieved a significant success here highlighting that no market has been left all over the world that Turkish flour haven’t reached yet. Claiming that the only way to accomplish their year-end target was becoming deeper in the 160 countries that they export flour, Ulusoy said the total amount of flour traded overseas is 11 million tons.

INNOVATION PERIOD FOR FLOUR The subject of the congress that will be held by TFIF next year in Antalya is trends and innovativeness in flour products. Ulusoy, in advance of the 14th congress which will be held in 2018, underlined that the production in the sector consist of bread; it is necessary to produce improved products and improved flours and explained the current change as follows: “Now there are industrial furnaces. They don’t ask what an ordinary bakery does anymore, that is price and expiry. They ask certificates, hygiene conditions, and whether the entire factory is closed loop.” “Our per capita consumption does not change in the domestic market. We decrease bread consumption a little and snack food, frozen food, Turkish bagels and pizza bridge the gap.” he said.
