Symaga, a leading manufacturer of advanced storage solutions, has been chosen to supply silos for the barley storage facility at AB InBev's new brewery plant in Salamina, Colombia, in collaboration with Meura.
The new storage facility is designed to withstand highly corrosive conditions, requiring specialized features to ensure the quality of the barley. Symaga's silos are equipped with a protective lining, double-wall cover, and polyester powder coating on both sides, offering superior corrosion resistance and enhanced insulation. The smooth inner lining further promotes material flow and facilitates cleaning, ensuring optimal storage conditions.
The silos also feature closed catwalks that comply with UNE EN ISO 14122 standards, providing safe and secure access for operators. Symaga has supplied a total of 14 hopper silos for this project: four SCEX1070/17T45 model silos, each 29 meters high, and ten SCEX535/13T60 model silos, standing at 21 meters. Together, these silos deliver a total storage capacity of 11,705 cubic meters for the facility.
This project represents the latest development in Symaga's ongoing partnership with Meura within the brewing sector. Previously, Symaga provided 20 hopper silos for Grupo Modelo in Apan, Mexico, in 2013, along with two silos for AB InBev in Salamina, and six in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, in 2022. Additionally, Zambian Breweries has installed four hopper silos at their Lusaka brewery.
With the Barranquilla project, Symaga continues to solidify its position as a leading manufacturer of advanced storage solutions for the brewing industry, committed to ensuring the quality and preservation of barley, a vital ingredient in beer production.
