Sukup announces leadership transition

Effective February 1, 2020, Steve Sukup is President and Chief Executive Officer of Sukup Manufacturing Co. As President and CEO, Steve will be fully responsible for day-to-day operations and strategically advancing the company’s mission to preserve and protect the world’s grain supply.

Effective February 1, 2020, Steve Sukup is President and Chief Executive Officer of Sukup Manufacturing Co. Charles Sukup, former president, announced his planned transition to Chair of the Board of Directors in November 2019. Both have served in their previous roles since 1995.

In his previous role as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Steve has been integral to the company’s innovation and growth. His contributions include the advent of the grain bin product line, expanding manufacturing capacity, and growing Sukup’s footprint in commercial sales. As President and CEO, Steve will be fully responsible for day-to-day operations and strategically advancing the company’s mission to preserve and protect the world’s grain supply.

“Innovation is part of our identity at Sukup, starting with my father Eugene’s original Stir Way Automatic in 1963,” said Steve. “As a family-owned company, my priority as president will be to continually outperform our big corporate competitors by staying close to our customers. Sukup is known for understanding the agriculture industry’s needs and providing the innovative solutions to effectively address those needs. I look forward to taking on the role of President and continuing to work with our third generation family members and dedicated team of employees.”

Third generation family members in management roles at Sukup Manufacturing Co. include: Emily Schmitt, general counsel; Matt Koch, senior electrical engineer; and Andy Schmitt, supply chain manager. Nick Sukup and Andrew Sukup hold production roles at the company.

Steve, the Board of Directors, and third generation family members active in the company, are committed to ensuring that Sukup Manufacturing Co. remains family-owned, and supporting the keys to success the company has built since 1963: a strong dealer network, world-class manufacturing capability, a responsive attitude to customer service, and engineering solutions to meet the needs of the global agriculture community.

ABOUT SUKUP MANUFACTURING Sukup Manufacturing Co. is the world’s largest family-owned and operated manufacturer of grain storage, grain drying and handling equipment, and steel buildings. The company is headquartered in Sheffield, Iowa, and covers one million square feet of office, manufacturing and warehouse space. The company employs more than 600 people, making it one of the largest employers in North Central Iowa. Three generations of the family are active in the business.

Sukup’s product line includes on-farm and commercial grain bins; portable, mixed-flow and tower dryers; centrifugal and axial fans and heaters; stirring machines; bin unloading equipment and bin floors and supports. Sukup also manufactures a line of material handling equipment that includes bucket elevators, drag and chain loop conveyors, and support structures; and a line of steel buildings. Sukup has six distribution centers in the Midwest. Sukup products are sold throughout the U.S. and Canada, and in more than 80 international countries.
