According to the news by Kyle Wilson from Creston News Advertiser; CHS top executives Carl Casale and Tom Malecha organized a tour for the governor Terry Branstad in new facilities. The executives told Branstad the flour mill facility should be fully operational by mid-summer and will produce 30-35 jobs in Creston. As the executive director of Union County Development Association Wayne Pantini said the following on the subject: “When you have one of the largest soy flour plants in North America, which that is what this plant in Creston is, it provides an opportunity in our local ag industry to capitalize on new jobs and new investments in the community”. The mill will be capable of producing 200,000 tons of soy products per year, when fully operational. Malecha said that the soy flour will be made from whole soybeans produced by farmers in the nine counties surrounding Creston and the soy flour produced here is used in doughnuts, breads and cookies.
