Mahsum Altunkaya; "We Achieved 2017 Targets In Cereal And pulses Exports"

In the Jan-Oct period of this year, 1 billion 688 million 108 thousand dollars of grains, legumes, oil seeds, and products were exported from the S. Eastern Anatolia.

Mahsum Altunkaya, the Chairman of Southeastern Anatolia Grains, Legumes, Oil Seeds and Products Exporters’ Association, stated that they have achieved their export targets by exporting to 153 countries within the first ten months of 2017. Underlining that they carried out 1 billion 660 million 432 thousand dollars of export last year, Altunkaya said that the figure increased to 1 billion 688 million 108 thousand dollars in the same period of this year. Stating that export of Turkish grains, legumes, oil seeds and products reached 5 billion 243 million 611 thousand dollar at the end of 10th month, Altunkaya recorded that S. Eastern Anatolia ranks the first in the export of these products with a 32,2 percent share in Turkey. “I believe this success will increasingly continue in the coming months and years. We, as the region, are exporting to different continents. We are able to sell our products to Iraq, Angola, Djibouti, Canada and etc.” he said. Stressing that wheat flour is the mostly exported product of the region, Altunkaya added, “We exported 449 million dollars of wheat flour within 10 months. This product is followed by pasta with 261 million, and vegetable oils with 259 million dollars.” Emphasizing that Middle Eastern countries are standing out in export, Altunkaya expressed 1 billion 274 million 250 thousand dollars of products were exported to the region. It was followed by Africa with 303 million 704 thousand dollars.
