Interlegal, in partnership with global legal experts, will host a comprehensive webinar titled “English Law in Practice: Contracts and Arbitration” tailored for professionals in the shipping and commodity trade sectors. This specialized session aims to shed light on English law’s core principles, covering crucial topics such as contract defaults, damage assessment, and arbitration. The event is scheduled for November 20, 2024 and will be held online via Zoom.

This event offers a unique opportunity for those in the Black Sea region and beyond to deepen their understanding of English law’s application in managing risks and resolving disputes effectively, a vital competency given that English law governs the majority of international shipping contracts.

The webinar will be moderated by Oleksii Remeslo, a partner at Interlegal, and Denys Stadnichenko, Interlegal’s Business Development Manager. Participants will gain valuable insights from a lineup of expert speakers who bring deep experience in shipping contracts and international trade disputes.

The first session will be led by Rosie Goncare, Partner at Hill Dickinson, and Helen Tung, Barrister at Hill Dickinson, who will delve into the topic "What is Default." This segment will provide foundational knowledge on defaults within the scope of English law in trade contracts. 


Andrew Rigden Green, Partner at Stephenson Harwood, will then take the floor to discuss "What are Damages in Shipping and Commodity Trade." This session will explore the nature and calculation of damages, essential for industry professionals handling contract breaches.

The final presentation will feature George Lambrou, Partner at Keystone Law, on the topic "Disputes Do Arise. What to Do Then? Most Important Tips About Maritime and Commodity Arbitration." Lambrou will cover strategic insights on navigating arbitration effectively in complex disputes.
