CESCO EPC has been awarded a contract to engineer, supply and install a new integrated grain terminal for La Sanfermese S.p.A. in Piubega, Mantova, strengthening the Italian company’s grain receiving, drying, storage and dispatch capacity.
The project, scheduled to enter operation in 2026, will have a total installed storage capacity of approximately 24,000 tonnes. The facility will include 12 flat-bottom silos for long-term storage, hopper-bottom silos for wet grain buffering and tempering, and dedicated rapid truck loading silos.
The new terminal marks another step in the long-standing cooperation between CESCO EPC and La Sanfermese, an Italian agricultural company active in the cultivation, processing and commercialization of cereals, legumes and non-GMO soy.

INTEGRATED GRAIN HANDLING AND STORAGE SYSTEM
According to the company, the plant is designed as a complete grain logistics and processing platform, combining intake, cleaning, continuous-flow drying, storage, ventilation, temperature monitoring and truck dispatch operations.
The main conveying lines will be engineered for continuous flow rates of up to 250 tonnes per hour. The receiving section will include a heavy-duty truck grid and a dust aspiration system designed to support high intake volumes during peak harvest periods.
The processing line will incorporate rotary and screen cleaning equipment for pre-cleaning before storage. Grain drying will be carried out by a continuous-flow column dryer with heat recovery and high-efficiency gas burners, with a drying capacity of around 475 tonnes per 24 hours under standard operating conditions.

AUTOMATION AND TURNKEY DELIVERY
The facility will be managed through a centralized automation system based on Siemens PLC architecture with PC supervision. The system will control product routing, dryer parameters, temperature monitoring, ventilation cycles, dust extraction, safety interlocks and alarm management.
CESCO EPC’s scope covers basic and detailed engineering, structural calculations, supply of mechanical equipment, steel structures, silos, towers, walkways, electrical control panels, installation and commissioning. The terminal is expected to improve La Sanfermese’s operational flexibility, product quality control and logistics efficiency once commissioned.
CESCO EPC specializes in the engineering, procurement and construction of industrial plants for the handling, storage, drying and processing of bulk materials. La Sanfermese, based in Mantova, supplies cereals, legumes and non-GMO soy products to the food and feed industries.
