The event will focus on debates about the future of wheat production and the direction of the milling industry in the light of political and economic trends in Brazil and abroad, changes in consumption patterns and technological innovations.
The milling industry has already set date to meet again in the most important event of the sector in Brazil. The 26th International Congress of the Wheat Industry, organized by the Brazilian Wheat Industry Association (Abitrigo), is scheduled for September 22-24, 2019. The event, which will have as its theme “New Strategies for a New Scenario”, will take place at the Royal Palm Plaza Hotel, in Campinas (SP), and should receive an audience of approximately 600 people.
Held every year since 1993, the Abitrigo Congress contributes to the strengthening and growth of the entire cereal chain in Brazil and other countries. The meeting represents the opportunity to exchange experiences and knowledge with businessmen, managers and authorities from Brazil and abroad. Internationally consolidated, the 26th Abitrigo Congress is expected to receive visitors from Argentina, Chile, China, the United States, Italy, Paraguay, Turkey and Uruguay.
The program begins on Sunday, September 22nd, at 4:00 PM, with three workshops, which will be conducted by representatives of the companies Weger do Brasil and Prozyn Biosolutions. The official opening ceremony of the Congress will be held on the morning of September 23rd, with the conference of Minister Tereza Cristina, from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa) of Brazil. Throughout the day, two panels are scheduled, with the themes “Agribusiness Perspectives” and “Mercosur Free Trade Agreements and Agribusiness”, led respectively by agribusiness and bioenergy expert Marco Jank and Ambassador Orlando Leite Ribeiro, Secretary of Trade and International Relations of MAPA, moderated by Abitrigo’s CEO, Rubens Barbosa. The topics are closely related to the theme of the event - “New strategies for a new scenario” - as they will debate the profound and rapid changes in the business environment, including complex global relations, accelerated technological changes and sensitive behavioral and value changes in contemporary society. The presentations of the second day of the event are completed by two round tables: “Regulation and trends of the wheat market” and “Wheat conjuncture and the milling industry”.
On the last day of the event, September 24th, the program begins with the theme “Changes in consumption habits. With the moderation of Abitrigo’s Chairman, João Carlos Veríssimo, the panel will be presented by João Dornellas, from the Brazilian Food Industry Association (Abia); Cláudio Zanão, from the Brazilian Association of Cookie, Pasta, Bread and Cake Industries (Abimapi); and José Batista, Brazilian Association of the Bakery and Confectionery Industry (Abip). At the closing of the congress, the theme “Wheat - international vision” will be addressed, with representatives of the main suppliers of wheat to Brazilian industry, bringing representatives from the United States, Argentina, Paraguay and Russia, as well as national producers.
