The owner of Calice Consulting Group Sarl in Togo, Amoussou Sena COMLAN is one of our guests for this issue. Calice Consulting Group Sarl is a young grain supplier established in 2012. Drawing attention that there are important opportunities we do not see in geography we describe as hard, Amoussou Sena COMLAN states that the government reduced the taxes in order to encourage the companies but they need the support of especially banks and financial institutions.
Saying; “Most of our machinery are old in terms of technology they demand from outside is very high and also road infrastructure is insufficient.”, COMLAN draws attention that There are a lot of opportunities to be obtained in Togo.
Mr. Comlan, firstly could you please give us some information on your company Calice Consulting Group Sarl? As we know you make seed trade. Could you give us information on especially grain and other product varieties?
Calice Consulting Group Sarl is a limited liability company established in February 2012. Our specialty is the wholesale of cereal grains such as maize, millet, sorghum, soya beans, ground nut, sesame seeds, shea nut seeds, Bambara groundnuts, cashew nut and cotton seeds. Our main office is in Lome capital town of Togo, West Africa.
Besides grain trade, do you have any other activities on grain processing and milling?
Our main activity is on grain for the moment base on the whole sale in form of raw material without any processing or milling.
Are you working only for the domestic market in grain trade? Do you have any export activities? If you have, could you please give information on the regions and countries to which you make export?
We are working with the domestic market in grain trade as well as the international market. We do export mostly to India, China, South Korea, and Germany and in Africa Côte-d’Ivoire, Ghana, Benin and Niger.
What is the position of your country in the grain trade of your region? What would you like to say on the market share you have in your country and regions to which you make export and also on the effectiveness of your company?
The government in Togo now is taking the grain trade as a serious matter and it’s putting financial means to help the farmers, another way also is granting them fertilizer. Actually talking on the market share we have in our country, there is more effort we need to do again and we need a push from banks and financial institutions to help us a lot. Government has done a lot effort by reducing taxes but there is more work to be done to help young company like us.
What kind of grains are produced and demanded mostly in your country or in the regions generally you work for?
The demand of grains is based on their season but mostly soya beans, black eye beans, shea nut seeds, cashew nut and maize are demanded.
Could you please give information also on the grain processing or flour industry in your country, consumption habits of your people? What can you say on the grain processing companies’ usage of technology, production amount, quality and consumption?
Talking on the grain processing, we have many small private processing unit and GRAND MOULIN DU TOGO (GMT). Locally, maize and many grains are in the daily diet of Togolese. Most of our machineries are old in terms of technology, their demand from outside is very high and also road infrastructure is insufficient.
As Calice Consulting Group Sarl, what is your investment and market target about the future? What do you want to do in order to increase your efficiency in your region?
Calice Consulting Group Sarl’s investment on the financial scale is average and our future target is to build a true relationship with our foreign partners in order to fit their demand. In order to increase our efficiency in our region, we need our partners to come down meet us here in our region and together we plan something.
