Al Rawahi awarded Sohar Flour Mills contract

Omani contractor Al Rawahi International Co has won a civil construction contract for the Sohar Flour Mills plant.

soharflourmills86The scope of the contract includes structural, civil, and architectural work for the complete mill, and external civil, and infrastructure works. The mill is being constructed in the Port of Sohar with an initial wheat milling capacity of 560 tonnes per day that can be expanded up to 2,000 tonnes per day. The civil construction work is expected to be completed before the end of this year, Muscat Daily reported. Sohar Flour Mills LLC is a partnership between Atyab Investments, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Oman Flour Mills Co, and Essa Al Ghurair Investments of UAE. Sheikh Salah Hilal al Mawali, chairman of Atyab Investments was quoted saying: “The flour mill in Sohar is one of our prestigious projects in the sultanate and currently the soil improvement works are in progress which will be completed next month” The project is being set up using state-of-the-art flour milling technology, with a vision to expand the production coverage of different types of flour across Oman. The mill will be capable of producing all types of speciality flour to cater to Oman as well as export markets including the GCC and other international markets.
