75th anniversary celebration of Istanbul grain and pulses association

Being one of the oldest exporters’ associations in Turkey, Istanbul Cereals, Pulses, Oil seeds and Products Exporters’ Association celebrated its 75th anniversary. 71_71 Grain and Pulses exporters came together for celebrating 75th anniversary of Istanbul Cereals, Pulses, Oil seeds and Products Exporters’ Association. Zekeriya Mete, the President of the Association gave an opening speech of the celebration which President of Turkish Exporters’ Assembly and the former Minister Kürşad Tüzmen attended too. Saying that the association which was founded in 1940 has nearly 700 members today and includes the most important exporters in Turkey, Mete, the President of Istanbul Cereals, Pulses, Oil seeds and Products Exporters’ Association, stated that they strive to move the industry forward continuously. “We managed many project together. We were only 12 companies in the exhibition that we attended as an association. We had a booth of 150 square meters. We had an export amount of 150 million dollars. Today, hundreds of companies attend the exhibitions. Our export amount is nearly 2 billion dollar” said Mete and added: “The industry is exporting to 200 countries; it has a large market range. In exports, Middle East countries predominate. Africa and European Union are other markets for us. Today, our companies export many countries from Russia, Germany, Indonesia and Peru to Thailand, America, France, Malaysia, and Iraq from Iran and Italy to China.” The winners of II National Industrial Food Design Competition were awarded during the celebration. Designers ranking the top were awarded with 135 thousand lira in total.
